The barbell pullover builds your lats while expanding your ribcage and chest. It creates a strong, wide back and improves shoulder mobility.
1. Lie on a bench with your upper back supported, feet flat on floor 2. Hold the barbell with both hands, arms extended above your chest 3. Lower the barbell pullover slowly behind your head in a wide arc 4. Keep your arms slightly bent and feel the stretch in your lats 5. Pull the barbell pullover back to starting position using your lats
• Keep your core tight and hips slightly dropped during the barbell pullover • Use a controlled tempo - don't swing the weight • Focus on feeling the stretch in your lats, not your shoulders • Start light with the barbell pullover until you master the movement pattern
• Going too heavy too soon with the barbell pullover and losing control • Moving the weight too fast instead of using slow, controlled motion • Arching your back excessively during the barbell pullover movement
