The lying cable pullover exercise targets your lats while building a strong chest and core. It creates that wide V-shape back and improves your pulling power.
1. Set cable machine to lowest position and attach straight bar. Lie on bench with head near cable, feet planted. 2. Grab the bar with arms slightly bent and hands shoulder-width apart. This is your starting position for lying cable pullover. 3. Keep core tight and pull the bar up and over your chest in a smooth arc motion. 4. Stop when bar reaches over your upper chest. You should feel a strong stretch in your lats. 5. Slowly lower the bar back down behind your head to complete the lying cable pullover rep.
• Keep your core engaged throughout the entire lying cable pullover movement to protect your lower back • Use a slight bend in your elbows - don't lock them straight or bend too much • Focus on pulling with your lats during the lying cable pullover, not just your arms • Control the weight both up and down - never let momentum take over
• Using too much weight on the lying cable pullover and losing control of the movement • Arching your back too much instead of keeping your core tight and spine neutral • Moving the bar in a straight line instead of the proper arc motion for lying cable pullover
