The cable underhand tricep pushdown builds stronger, bigger triceps using an underhand grip. This grip hits your triceps from a different angle than regular pushdowns.
1. Set the cable machine to chest height and attach a straight bar or EZ-curl bar 2. Grab the bar with an underhand grip, hands shoulder-width apart, and step back slightly 3. Keep your elbows tucked at your sides and push the bar down by extending your arms fully 4. Hold the bottom position for a second, then slowly control the weight back up for your cable underhand tricep pushdown 5. Keep tension on your triceps throughout the entire movement and repeat for desired reps
• Keep your elbows glued to your sides throughout the entire cable underhand tricep pushdown movement • Use a controlled tempo - slow up, pause, then push down with power • Don't let your shoulders roll forward or your back arch during the exercise • Squeeze your triceps hard at the bottom and feel the full stretch at the top
• Moving your elbows away from your body, which reduces tricep activation in cable underhand tricep pushdown • Using too much weight and letting momentum take over instead of controlled movement • Not getting full range of motion by stopping the cable underhand tricep pushdown movement too early
