The french press builds serious tricep strength and size. This move hits all three heads of your triceps for bigger, stronger arms.
1. Lie flat on a bench holding dumbbells straight above your chest with arms extended 2. Keep your upper arms still and slowly lower the dumbbells toward your forehead by bending at the elbows 3. Stop when the weights are just above your forehead, feeling a stretch in your triceps 4. Press the dumbbells back up to starting position using only your triceps during the french press movement 5. Complete your reps with controlled movement, keeping your core tight throughout each french press rep
• Keep your upper arms locked in place during the entire french press - only your forearms should move • Lower the weights slowly and controlled to get the most out of each rep • Don't let your elbows flare out wide - keep them pointing toward the ceiling during the french press • Use a full range of motion but stop before the weights touch your head
• Moving your upper arms instead of keeping them fixed - this turns the french press into a different exercise entirely • Using too much weight and losing control of the movement, which can hurt your elbows • Rushing through the reps instead of using slow, controlled movement during each french press rep
