The scapular wall slide exercise fixes poor posture and strengthens your middle back. It teaches your shoulder blades to move properly while building stability.
1. Stand with your back flat against a wall, arms at shoulder height in a 'W' position. 2. Press your forearms and back of your hands against the wall throughout the scapular wall slide movement. 3. Slowly slide your arms up the wall while keeping contact with forearms and hands. 4. Slide up as high as you can while maintaining proper scapular wall slide form and wall contact. 5. Lower your arms back to the starting 'W' position with control and repeat.
• Keep your lower back pressed against the wall during the entire scapular wall slide movement. • Your forearms and hands must stay in contact with the wall at all times. • Move slowly and focus on squeezing your shoulder blades together. • Stop the scapular wall slide motion if you lose contact with the wall.
• Letting your lower back arch away from the wall during the scapular wall slide exercise. • Moving too fast and losing contact between your arms and the wall. • Sliding your arms too high and compromising your scapular wall slide form.
