Deep push ups stretch your chest more than regular push ups and build bigger, stronger pecs. The extra range of motion hits your chest harder and faster.
1. Place push-up handles or blocks shoulder-width apart on the floor 2. Get into plank position with hands gripping the handles, body straight from head to heels 3. Lower your chest below your hands for deep push ups, going as low as comfortable 4. Push through your palms to return to starting position, squeezing your chest at the top 5. Complete your deep push ups reps with controlled movement throughout
• Keep your core tight during deep push ups to prevent your hips from sagging • Lower slowly and control the stretch - don't bounce at the bottom • Your deep push ups should go only as low as your shoulder flexibility allows • Squeeze your shoulder blades together at the bottom for better chest activation
• Going too deep too fast in deep push ups - this can hurt your shoulders and chest • Letting your hips sag or pike up instead of maintaining a straight plank position • Rushing through the movement instead of using slow, controlled deep push ups form
