The shoulder tap push up builds chest strength while adding core stability work. It combines a push up with anti-rotation training to boost total-body power.
1. Start in a push up position with hands slightly wider than shoulder width apart. 2. Lower your chest to the floor while keeping your core tight and body straight. 3. Push back up to starting position, then lift your right hand to tap your left shoulder. 4. Place your hand back down and repeat the shoulder tap push up on the other side. 5. Keep alternating shoulder taps after each push up rep while fighting rotation.
• Keep your feet wide during shoulder tap push ups to create a stable base and prevent hip swaying. • Squeeze your glutes and abs hard when lifting your hand to tap - this stops your body from rotating. • Move slow and controlled on the shoulder taps to get the most core benefit. • Don't let your hips pike up during the shoulder tap push up movement.
• Letting your hips rotate when you lift your hand instead of keeping them square to the ground. • Rushing through the shoulder tap push up movement instead of controlling each part of the exercise. • Placing feet too close together which makes the shoulder taps much harder to balance.
